About you  

As a Security Operations Engineer, you will be responsible for safeguarding the organisation’s critical assets, data, and systems from cyber threats. You’ll play a pivotal role in maintaining the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information by designing, implementing, and managing robust technical security measures. Your expertise ensures that the organisation remains resilient against cyberattacks, unauthorized access, and data breaches.

A key requirement for this position is strong communications and customer skills to liaise with all levels of users, internal systems support staff and third-party vendors to understand, evaluate and act on cyber threats as they present. Collaboration with the Technology Operations team is critically important to ensure that all systems and support are aligned with Guild’s security standards.

Security Operations Engineering:

  • Manage and lead vendor to design, deploy and maintain security tools providing capabilities in email security, data loss prevention, vulnerability management, network security, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, endpoint detection and response platforms, application whitelisting, web application firewalls and web filtering.
  • Provide technical input and perspective in project work as required.
  • Maintain and recommend secure configuration baselines for applications, and server, network, and cloud infrastructure.

Security Assurance and Vulnerability Management:

  • Conduct IT security assessments to identify vulnerabilities.
  • Coordinate penetration testing and red team engagements.
  • Coordinate phishing testing activities.
  • Management of the vulnerability scanning platform.

 Security Compliance and Operations:

  • Provide support to the outsourced Managed Security Operations including ensuring appropriate monitoring and ingestion of relevant audit logs and data
  • Collaborate with the wider Technology team to implement security solutions tailored to the organisation’s needs
  • Remediate IT controls testing failures and audit findings
  • Monitor IT systems compliance with Guild’s security standards

 

Here are some things that you will ideally have knowledge of and previously worked with 

  • Having excellent technical knowledge of cloud, server and network infrastructure, and security best practices
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and implementing Identity and Access Management controls
  • Knowledge of cloud best practice frameworks such as the Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework for Azure and the Microsoft Azure Well-Architected Framework
  • Good knowledge of ITIL best practice processes
  • Good knowledge of current trends, practices, and techniques for optimisation of systems and networks
